Saturday, May 17 - MTFR: MILL CREEK TO THE CEDARS ON THE PCT (16 miles). Route entirely on the PCT. Meet at the Mill Creek Summit picnic area just off the Angeles Forest Hwy, 11 miles south of Sierra Hwy/ AV freeway. USFS Adventure Pass required for parking! Tony Teske, host, 661-948-0369.
Saturday, May 17 - SANTA CLARITA: FIGHT IT! 5K RUN, Central Park, 21750 Bouquet Canyon Road, 8 a.m. start. Sponsored by the Santa Clarita Jaycees to benefit the Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund.
Saturday, May 24 - TEHACHAPI: JIM HARVEY LEGACY RUN 10K/5K/1 Mi, Brite Lake Recreation Area, 8 a.m. start. Staged by St. Malachy Parish youth group in honor of former HDR Jim Harvey, who ministered to the group prior to his death two years ago. Awards in 10-year A/G. $20, $5 for children 12 & under, payable to St. Malachy Youth, 407 West "E" St., Tehachapi, CA 93561. Directions: Take Hwy 58 to Hwy 202 off ramp 148, head south on Tucker Road to Highline, turn right and head west, continuing past Banducci Road until you reach Brite Lake on the right several miles down the road. Look for balloons at the entrance!!
Sunday, May 25 - YUCCA VALLEY: GRUBSTAKES RUN 5K/10K, California Welcome Center, 8 a.m. 18th annual. New course, both rces srtart and finish on track at Yucca Valley High School, 7600 Sage Ave. Awards in 5-yr. Saturday, May 31 - PALMDALE: AV RIDE TO REMEMBER 5K / 10K RUNS & BIKE RIDE, Central Christian Church, Avenue J & 32nd Street West, 9 a.m. Fund-raiser for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. $30, includes an T-shirt, a pair of "cancer sucks" performance socks, and a raffle for prizes. Sunday, June 15 - MTFR: FATHER'S DAY ON THE BURKHART TRAIL (10 miles). Meet at Devil's Punchbowl County Park on Tumbleweed Road above Pearblossom east of Juniper Hills. Course goes west, out-and-back on the Burkhart Trail. Mark Hershey, host, 661-951-9075, 733-9083.
Wednesday, June 18- MTFR: BILLY GOAT HILL CLIMB (1 mile up, 4 down). Meet at turnout along Bouquet Canyon Rd., one mile northeast of the dam. Climb 1,120 feet in one mile. Winner is whoever comes closest to their predicted time-no watches allowed! Joe & Kathy Diorio, hosts, 661-256-9373.
Saturday, June 21 - CASTAIC: CASTAIC LAKE TRIATHLON SERIES, Sprint Triathlon I, 8 a.m. Date tentative!
Thursday, June 26 - PALMDALE: ANTELOPE VALLEY SUMMER CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES, Meet #1, Pelona Vista Park, Tierra Subida Avenue and Rayburn Road. Meet on the west side of the north soccer fields. Mile run at 6:30 p.m., three-mile run follows about 6:45. Date, location tentative! No awards, no shirts, donations accepted to defray expenses. Moderately hilly, challenging course mostly on dirt.
Thursday, July 3 -- PALMDALE: ANTELOPE VALLEY SUMMER CROSS-COUNTRY SERIES, Meet #2. Basic information same as listing for first meet on June 26.
Friday, July 4 -- SANTA CLARITA/NEWHALL: INDEPENDENCE DAY 5K, Newhall Park, Newhall & Dalby Avenues, 9 a.m. Sponsored by Santa Clarita Runners to benefit Santa Clarita-area high school cross-country teams. 26th annual. Fast paved out-&-back course on parade route. $25, add $5 after 6/30 & DOR.
Friday, July 4 - APPLE VALLEY: FIRECRACKER 5K/10K RUNS, Brewster Park, 21024 Otoe Road at Dale Evans Parkway. 7:30 a.m.strt. A/G awards three deep. $13 advance by 7/2, $15 DOR, T-shirts $10 extra. Sponsored by Apple Valley Recreation Dept. More info: 760-240-7880, JRamos@applevalley.org.

Sunday, July 6 - MTFR, Pacific Crest Trail, Mill Creek Summit to Pacifico (12 miles). Meet at parking lot above fire station. Out-and-back course goes east, instead of west, uphill going out, down hill coming back. U.S. Forest Service Adventure Pass required for parking! No fee, bring munchies, water. Host still needed!
